The 2016 RAM 3500 is available with the 6.7 L I-6 Cummins engine that is capable of generating up to 385 horsepower. Powered by diesel, this six-cylinder diesel engine can also deliver a maximum of 900 pound-feet of peak torque. Additionally, the Cummins engine gives the RAM 3500 a towing capacity of 31,210 pounds. The Tow/Haul mode can be selected to optimize the vehicle's powertrain for demanding towing tasks. When equipped with the 6.7 L Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel engine, the Ford F350 offers up to 925 lb-ft of torque. However, this Ford pickup truck offers a conventional towing capacity of 21,000 pounds. The RAM 3500 is available with the 66RFE six-speed automatic transmission, G56 six-speed manual transmission or AISIN six-speed automatic transmission. By contrast, the Ford F350 comes with the standard TorqShift automatic transmission with six gear ratios. As powerful pickup trucks, the RAM 3500 and Ford 350 roll on 4x4 systems that get good traction on various surfaces. Thanks to the optional rear suspension system and three-link front suspension system, this RAM model offers a much more stable ride on rough terrains compared to the Ford 350.

Technology

Featuring an 8.4-inch display, the Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system is nicely integrated into the modern cockpit of the 2016 RAM 3500. The vehicle's GPS navigation system also comes with a five-year subscription to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link. Additionally, the RAM 3500 is available with a one-year plan to SiriusXM Satellite Radio, which includes more than 120 commercial-free music stations. The latest hits can be played through the vehicle's Alpine sound system, which has nine total speakers including a subwoofer. HD Radio can also be enjoyed through this premium audio system that evenly distributes acoustics throughout the vehicle's cabin. Convenience

The RAM 3500 has the patented RAMBox Cargo Management System, which makes it easy to organize tools and other light equipment. This feature also includes a draining system to keep the stored cargo dry and clean. Additionally, the AllSecure system enables the driver to remotely lock or unlock the cargo box and all of the doors in the vehicle. The RAM 3500 is equipped with the RAM Truck Tail Gate Lift Assist, which uses torsion technology to provide some leverage for effortless opening and closing of the tail gate.
