What's New for the 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona?

The Dodge Charger Daytona is not so much redesigned as it is reborn. It returns for 2017 after last being seen in the 2013 model year. Two Daytona trims are available: the Daytona and the performance-oriented Daytona 392. 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona's design is inspired by the big-winged Charger Daytona coupe. Dodge enthusiasts would remember the Daytona Coupe as the aggressive-looking car that Dodge built in 1969 for NASCAR racing. The Charger Daytona front fascia and rear fascia is also quite similar to its R/T Scat Pack and SRT brethren. That is not to say that the Daytona lacks its own persona. Far from it, this beauty of a car plows its own styling cues with model-specific matte-black design details comprise a rear spoiler, a unique roof, “Daytona” graphics on the rear quarter-panels, and a “Hemi” graphic on the centrally-placed hood-scoop bulge.

It is also available in a variety of retro paint hues, including Yellow Jacket and Green Go. The Charger Daytona gets 20-by-9-inch, 12-spoke wheels with a black finish while the Daytona 392 sits on a similar colored set of 20-by-9.5-inch forged-aluminum wheels. The 392 is enhanced by “392” fender decals, a 180-mph speedometer, and a 220-amp alternator. The Charger Daytona interior is both sporty and classy. The cabin offers power-adjustable cooled and heated front seats, a power-adjustable steering column, and rear parking sensors, LED interior lighting, among others. Gold accent stitching is used for the embroidered Daytona logos that are placed on the front seats and on the door panel armrests, door panels, and center console armrest. There is also an attractive Daytona logo on the instrument panel. Buyers benefit from black Nappa leather seats featuring Alcantara suede plow throughs. Standard interior equipment includes sports pedals, premium velour-bound floor mats, as well as “Daytona” instrument panel badge.

Engine Options

Both Daytona models make use of a standard eight-speed automatic transmission. Dodge’s Super Track Pak enhances performances by facilitating better brake linings and a stiffer suspension. The package also includes high-performance Pirelli tires and a three-mode stability control system that offers a dedicated “off” function. The Dodge Charger Daytona gives the driver a choice between two exceptional engines. The first engine is a 5.7-liter Hemi that is good for 375 horsepower with 410 lb-ft of torque. Then there is a 6.4-liter V-8 engine that makes 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. The two engines' intakes are influenced by a Mopar conical air filter and a burly exhaust system.
