2017 Chrysler Pacifica Review – Cleveland, TN

 Performance

The standard V6 engine is a special lighter-weight unit that generates best-in-class horsepower. The Pentastar design can unleash 287 horsepower and 262 lb.-ft. of torque. To handle all that torque thrust and throttle power, Chrysler has mated the Pentastar with a nine-speed automatic. This transmission helps the Pacific lead its class in fuel economy. Taking that even further, the Pacifica Hybrid will offer a plug-in system. This allows up to 30 miles of gas-free driving*. Shoppers who test drive the Pacifica are sure to discover why Motor Trend calls this van ambitious.

 Interior

Continuing the Town and Country tradition of innovation, the interior can promise to do more than before. The new van boasts 197.3 cu.ft. of interior space. With a removable center-row middle seat, the van now seats eight. Of course, it has the versatility of Stow and Go seating plus the convenience of five LATCH attachments. A button can push the front seat out of the way, allowing the second row to stow away in a floor compartment. Easy Tilt pushes the second-row out of the way for third-row entry. The power sliding doors can be opened by waving a foot underneath them. The power liftgate also opens this way. The Pacific will also offer a built-in vacuum. Of course, the Pacifica will offer a long list of luxury features. New two-tone leather choices will dress up the cabin.

 Features

The most creative tech features on the Pacifica is its UConnect rear seat entertainment system. This has 10-inch high-def screens and the ability to internet-stream content. To strengthen its appeal, there will be built-in game apps. Children can play Are We There Yet, a creative app that is modeled on airplane progress maps. For long trips, this can save a lot of unnecessary whining. Uconnect also puts a large touchscreen on the dash and makes a WiFi hotspot available for personal streaming. Siri Eyes Free and 3D navigation are among its special offerings. The base audio system will be a six-speaker set-up with audio-phile quality sound and active noise cancellation. Other choices include a 20-speaker Harman Kardon and a 13-speaker Alpine.

 Safety

The van’s innovations extend to its new safety features. This includes a parking assist to relieve the stress of a tight maneuver. A surround-view camera shows you everything you need to know when you are moving slowly. The collision warning and lane departure alert benefit from automated features that slow, straighten or even stop the minivan. Adaptive cruise control lets parents relax a little more when traffic is stop and go. In all, the Pacifica will offer more than 100 security and safety features.
