Performance
All four trims on the new 2016 Jeep Wrangler come with a 3.6L V6 engine that delivers a total of 285 horsepower. Transmission is either six-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. You won't break any records accelerating from zero to 60 mph, but gear shifting is very smooth. Actually, the two-door version is light enough to go from zero to a comfortable speed in the same time frame as any other mid-size off-road vehicle. Keeping the tradition of past models' ruggedness, the newest version of the Wrangler retains the well-built body-on-frame chassis. Handling is superb over rough roads and potholes, and although the ride is anything but comfortable, this vehicle can handle the bumps and ditches with ease. There's plenty of clearance, and the protective skid plates mean peace of mind if the ride gets a little bouncy.
Interior
One of the nicest features of the 2016 Jeep Wrangler is its open-air design. With the doors open, the top and windshield down, and the cargo removed, you can spray wash the entire interior using a hose. Specially placed drain plugs allow for lots of water to be used when showering out the interior. The new instrument panel is thoughtfully designed. If you purchase a trim with the Freedom hardtop, you can remove the roof panels to create a true, open-air ride experience. The larger 4-door version has plenty of cargo area. Even the base Sport trim comes with cruise control, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and an eight-speaker stereo system. Up level trims offer a split-folding rear seat, heated power mirrors, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Features
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler won't exactly wow you with its high-tech gadgetry, and this is no surprise considering the functional, practical workhorse it is designed to be. However, there are a few noteworthy additions to this latest model year. These include automatic climate control, Alpine speakers, navigation, and MyGIG music storage. You can also opt for a package that comes with Sirius satellite radio and Bluetooth connectivity. These features are not available on many of the competing off-road models.
Safety
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler is built for serious off-road travel, and its exceptionally well-built frame and body means lots of protection for the occupants. Anti-lock disc brakes and stability control are standard, as are front airbags and hill-start assist. If you want extra protection, you can purchase a special package that includes front-side airbags as well. The vehicle scores high in moderate overlap frontal off-set collision tests.
Certainly not a luxury vehicle, the 2016 Jeep Wrangler is targeted to the fun-loving off-road crowd. No other rough terrain vehicle performs better according to consumer feedback, and if you're willing to sacrifice some fuel economy and a silky-smooth ride, you can't go wrong with this model. Check it out today by contacting Crown CDJR and scheduling a test drive. Once behind the wheel, you'll soon discover why the Wrangler is one of the most functional, dependable off-roaders on the market.
