Performance
The standard engine on the 2016 Jeep Cherokee is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder MultiAir engine, which generates 184 horsepower at 6,400 revolutions per minute (RPM) and 171 foot- pounds of torque at 4,800 RPM. However, for more power and enhanced performance, you can go with the 3.2-liter V6 engine, which is available with the Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. This engine choice comes with dual bright exhaust outlets, an engine oil cooler to keep the system from malfunctioning, and a start/stop system that automatically shuts down and restarts the engine for cutting down on fuel consumption and emissions. While the front-wheel drivetrain is standard on the Sport, Latitude, and Limited, you can also get the Jeep Active Drive I 4x4 all- wheel drive system, which features a rear axle that only connects when necessary for boosted efficiency. Also, this system automatically comes with the Trailhawk trim. So, ultimately, even with its sedan-like feel, the 2016 Jeep Cherokee can actually handle any type of terrain-no matter how rough it is.
Interior
Designed as a five-seater, the 2016 Jeep Cherokee can comfortably seat up to five adult passengers, with a total passenger volume of 103.4 cubic feet. Cargo space is not shabby, either, with a maximum volume of 54.9 cubic feet. The vehicle has the standard front bucket seats and 60/40 split-folding bench-style rear seats, and the cloth trim is stylish and first rate. However, if you want extras like front seat heating ability and power adjustability, as well as the choice of switching the cloth seats with leather-appointed ones, then go for the Trailhawk trim.

Safety
For safety, the 2016 Jeep Cherokee provides dual front impact air bags, seat-mounted side impact air bags, roof-mounted front and rear side curtain air bags, and a driver's knee air bag.
